Exclusive Snowshoe Tour Through Ashcroft Ghost Town

Do you like snowshoeing? Do you like ghost towns? Excellent! Visit the Ashcroft Ski Touring Center for an exclusive tour through the historic Ashcroft Ghost Town, one of the most beautiful ghost towns in Colorado.

The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) in partnership with Ashcroft Ski Touring/Pine Creek Cookhouse and the White River National Forest have put together an incredible guided snowshoeing tour at Castle Creek Valley just 11 miles outside of Aspen.

This half-day tour will take you on an exploration through Ashcroft ghost town, through the stunning forests and meadows in the valley, lunch at Pine Creek Cookhouse, and finish off your journey through the groves back to the King Cabin.

On the tour your guide will shared their knowledge on animal tracking, valley geology, avalanches, bird-life, winter habitats, and sub-alpine ecology.

When:
From 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM daily 12/10/18 – 4/19/19 when Pine Creek Cookhouse is open (closed Tuesdays).

Price:
$100/person which includes a 4-hour guided tour, snowshoe rental and basic instruction, and an Ashcroft trail pass. Lunch is not included in this price.

How to book:
Reservations are required. Contact ACES at (970) 925-5756 Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. It is recommended you provide 48 hours’ notice before the tour.

Tour:
The tour is 3.5 miles round trip on gentle terrain at a leisurely pace.

Attire:
Warm boots, winter clothing, sunscreen, and water are strongly recommended.

Alternate transportation:
SnowLimo shuttle service is available which leaves from the Wheeler Opera House at 10:00 AM and reservations are to be booked separate from the tour. There is a two-person minimum to partake in this service. Contact SnowLimo at (970) 544-6475 or reservations@snowlimoaspen.com.
